RIF Distribution Day Brings New Books to Hard Elementary Students

BESSEMER, Ala. — Students at Charles F. Hard Elementary expanded their personal libraries during the school’s latest Reading Is Fundamental distribution day.

The event allowed each student to select a free book to take home, an initiative designed to encourage independent reading and literacy outside the classroom. Teachers and staff noted the excitement in the building as children browsed the selection to find stories to treasure.

“There’s nothing better than seeing children light up when they get to choose a new book to take home, read, and treasure,” school officials said.

The distribution was organized by the school’s media specialist, Mrs. Williams. Administrators credited her leadership and dedication for the success of the event and for fostering a culture of reading throughout the student body.

“Your dedication to fostering a love of reading in our students makes a world of difference,” the school noted in a statement of thanks to Williams.

Reading Is Fundamental, or RIF, is a national nonprofit organization committed to digital and print literacy. By providing students with the opportunity to choose their own books, the program aims to build reading proficiency and a lifelong passion for learning.
