Junior Beta Club Spreads Holiday Cheer at Oak Crest Health and Wellness

BESSEMER, Ala. — Students from the Charles F. Hard Elementary Junior Beta Club spent a morning sharing the holiday spirit with residents of Oak Crest Health and Wellness.

The visit to the local nursing home focused on community service and intergenerational connection. Students spent time engaging in conversations and visiting with residents to deliver "cheer, kindness, and happiness" during the holiday season.

School officials noted that the event provided a meaningful way for the scholars to practice the club's core pillars of service and character.

“From warm conversations to bright smiles, this visit was a beautiful reminder that a little love goes a long way,” school representatives said. “We are so proud of our students for giving back and making a difference.”

The Junior Beta Club is a national organization that recognizes middle-grade students for their academic achievement and leadership. For the students at Hard Elementary, the visit served as a practical application of those values, emphasizing the impact of civic engagement within the Bessemer community.

The school aims to continue such partnerships, fostering a sense of empathy and responsibility in its students through hands-on volunteer work.
